Crafting memorable songs in the unique genre of world fusion is a difficult feat and Trance Mission is one of the bands who have achieved it. The band was formed in San Francisco during 1992. Featuring musician Kenneth Newby, Beth Custer on the clarinet, Stephen Kent with his didgeridoo and the percussionist John Loose. After a year of playing together, the band entered the music industry with a self-titled debut album, the songs from which showcased the band's style of blending jazz with a wide range of elements from ethnic music. This artful mix of songs won the band many critical accolades and Beth Custer was even nominated at the 17th Annual Bay Area Music Awards for her bass playing skills. But it was the band's second album, Meanwhile..., which brought them huge popularity and attention from major music magazines. Each of Trance Mission's songs feels like a separate journey, taking this listener on an adventure through the mystical soundscapes carefully crafted by the band members.
