Laura Marling is a folk pop singer from Hampshire, England. She toured with popular acts like Adam Green and Jamie T in 2007 before her debut album was released. Alas, I Cannot Swim found its way into record stores in February, 2008. The beginning of her career was touring with other indie artists and that helped her assert herself as an artist. Her work has received a lot of attention and her style is very minimalist, mainly guitars and vocals. Before she gained clout as a solo artist, Marling was part of the folk rock band Noah and the Whale.
