Jason Clarke, a self-taught singer-songwriter from Belfast, Northern Ireland, discovered his love for singing and performing at an early age, but it wasn't until his teens that he began teaching himself the art of guitar. A chance meeting with Belfast singer Brian Kennedy was the catalyst that encouraged him to take his music to the next level. He says that Kennedy's encouragement to strum a few chords and sing a word gave him the boost he needed to start his songwriting journey. Although his early attempts at songwriting were a bit cheesy, he has continued to improve, and today, Clarke's songs reflect his maturity as a songwriter. He recently participated in the Songcraft residential master class weekend organized by The Northern Ireland Music Industry Commission, where he co-wrote with some of Northern Ireland's most talented writers and attended masterclasses led by renowned songwriters like Beth Nielsen Chapman, Iain Archer, JD Souther, and local singer-songwriter Brian Houston.
