Penned by Roger Hall, Conjugal Rites narrates the story of a middle-aged couple who, on the eve of their 21st wedding anniversary, have a tête-à-tête about life, marriage and family. The play first ran at the Centrepoint Theatre in New Zealand in 1990. Outside New Zealand, the play premiered in 1991 at Watford Palace Theatre in the UK.
