Carlos Acosta

Carlos Acosta is an internationally renowned ballet dancer who emerged out of the slums of Havana, Cuba, with an affinity for movement. After his father enrolled him in dance classes at a state-funded school, hoping they would teach him some discipline, Acosta quickly showed a natural ability and would go on to study at the Cuba National Ballet School. After he graduated with the highest honors, he spent his teenage years in the early 1990s dancing with premier companies in North America and Europe, including a five-year stint with Houston Ballet, before earning a permanent gig with England's Royal Ballet in 1998. As a Principal Guest Artist for the London-based company, Acosta has the freedom to concentrate on international guest appearances and tours while also securing lead romantic roles with the Royal Ballet.
