Broken Records is a UK-based folk-rock outfit that formed in 2007. A product of the burgeoning music community of Edinburgh, Scotland, the band originally came together as a trio, but has slowly evolved its instrumentation format over the years, finally settling on its current six-member state. Lead singer Jamie Sutherland croons his lyrics with a warbling intensity that calls to mind Win Butler of Arcade Fire, while his bandmates create violin and cello-infused indie folk tunes that occasionally ramp up to more rock-oriented arrangements. As Broken Records continues to expand its audience via touring and festival appearances, critics have widely started to consider it one of Scotland's more promising young groups.
