Neville Staple

Neville Staple is a Jamaican singer/songwriter based in the UK who acted as major player in the second wave of ska. He is best known as the lead singer of the two-tone ska band The Specials as well as The Neville Staple Band. During this time he performed in a style known as toasting, a form of chanting over rhythms that was brought to England by Jamaican musicians in the 1960s. After fronting various bands in the UK, he moved to California where there was a growing interest in ska revival music. Here he collaborated with popular ska bands including No Doubt and Rancid. He started his solo career in 2004, forming The Neville Staple band and began touring constantly throughout Europe, The Middle East, New Zealand and Australia with other legends of ska such as Ranker Roger of the the Beat and Pauline Black of The Selecter.
