Dancehall act Mono & Nikitaman is a German-Austrian duo composed of Monika Jaksch and Nick Tilstra. The two solo artists paired up in 2004 and released their debut album Das Spiel Beginnt. Quickly earning a fan base in the alternative underground music scene of German-speaking countries, Mono & Nikitaman steadily released material of reggae music with hints of pop and hip-hop flavors blended into its sound. The band's fourth studio album, 2011's Unter Freunden, was the Mono & Nikitaman's first success in the US, peaking at number 18 on US Albums charts.
