She then moved to New York City and began writing lyrics for Broadway musicals and cabaret songs. Her most famous works include "The Ballad of the Sad Young Men," "Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most," and "The Nanny Named Fran." She also wrote the lyrics for the musicals "The Nervous Set" and "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie." Landesman's lyrics are known for their wit, intelligence, and insight into the human condition. Her work has been covered by a wide range of artists, including Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Barbra Streisand. Landesman's influence on the American songbook is undeniable, and her work continues to be celebrated by fans and critics alike.
