Jace Everett grew up in Texas, playing in church bands. Everett was also interested in gospel and country music. He released his debut album in 2006. Keeping with the country music tradition, his lyrics are melancholic and deal with harsh life themes. Still, somehow, his music is uplifting, forward-going, and will make you want to dance. Everett has enjoyed such honors as having his single, "Bad Things," be the theme song for hit HBO series, True Blood.
