Gregg Allman

Born in Nashville, TN, Gregg Allman and his older brother Duane became interested in music at an early age. With Duane on guitar and Gregg taking over piano and vocals, the duo started various bands, had an negative experience with a label-controlled band in Los Angeles, then started the famed Allman Brothers Band in the late 1960s. After Duane's death in 1971, Gregg set out on a solo career--one that would prove highly successful. Primarily sticking to southern rock and blues, Allman has consistently released new material and toured, both solo and with the Allman Brothers Band. Despite his issues with drug addiction and several failed marriages, including one with Cher, Allman is still a respected figurehead of blues-rock and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.
