About
Durham County Cricket Club is one of the competitors in the County Championship. The club was formed in 1882 and spent a major portion of its career donning the minor status. Even then, the club was known to be a powerful one, thanks to the number of Minor Counties Championships it had won. In 1992, it finally achieved the First-class status and the club started representing Durham County in the County Championship. Along with winning the championship multiple times, it has also won the Royal London One-Day Cup, Friends Provident Trophy, MCCA Knockout Trophy and more. A major credit of the club’s success goes to its roster which has previously held stalwart players like P. D. Collingwood, Phil Mustard and Dale Benkenstein. It plays its home games at the Riverside Ground.
