Bhoomi, formed in 1999, is a Bengali urban folk music group from Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The band gained prominence with their unique fusion of modern urban lyrics and traditional Bengali folk tunes, such as baul and bhatiyali. Bhoomi's innovative blend of folk with contemporary rhythms and instrumentation has earned them acclaim on local, national, and international stages, including performances at the United Nations headquarters in New York City and the Montreal Jazz Festival. The current lineup features Soumitra Ray (lead vocals, drums, and percussion), Hemanto Goswami (guitar and backing vocals), Abhijit Ghosh (bass guitar and backing vocals), Robin Lai (keyboards and violin), and Arjyesh Ray (drums). Notable former members include Surojit Chatterjee and Sanjoy Mukherjee. Their discography includes albums like Jatra Shuru (2000), Paal Chhuteche (2003), Gaan Doriyay (2010), and Prem Pagol (2018).
