Morbid Angel is death metal outfit that was assembled in Tampa, Florida in 1984. Recognized as a pioneer of the death metal genre, the band quickly established a distinctive, complex songwriting style largely due to the sharp technical skills of guitarist Trey Azagthoth and drummer Pete Sandoval. With the release of its debut studio album, Altars of Madness, in 1989, the band earned a widespread national following that has steadily grown into a world-wide audience with each subsequent release. Morbid Angel dropped its eighth studio album, Illud Divinum Insanus, to international acclaim in 2011.
