Formed in 1960 in Tacoma, WA, The Sonics played its first live show in March 2008. The band is globally recognized as the pioneer of garage rock and punk rock music. The Sonics was first formed by guitarist Larry Parypa in his teenage and has undergone several lineup changes since then. The Sonics’ debut single "The Witch" came out in 1964 and was well-received. This group started off by covering songs like "Louie, Louie" and the song “Skinny Minnie” by Bill Haley, and later moved on to their own compositions. Although the band was an established name in the local music scene, its track “Have Love Will Travel” from its debut studio album Here Are The Sonics is what gave them a boost. Richard Berry’s rendition of “Have Love Will Travel” brought The Sonics in the public eye. The original “Have Love Will Travel” was majorly featured in the 2008 film RocknRolla. The Sonics’ “Psycho,” “Strychnine” and “Shot Down” among other singles are also noteworthy.
