The Darkness is a glam rock band based out of Suffolk, England. With obvious classic rock and heavy metal influences, the band's 2003 debut album, Permission To Land, earned the group instant success and mainstream popularity. The Darkness, however, could not adjust to instant fame and after extensive touring to support its quadruple platinum album, guitarist Frankie Poullain left the band in 2005. Although the band replaced Poullain and released a sophomore album, front-man Justin Hawkins' also left the band the following year, causing the break-up of The Darkness. The individual musicians in the band went on to focus on other musical projects until 2011, when the band announced a reunion tour with all of its original members.
