The Toy Hearts is a bluegrass band that offers surprisingly authentic Americana music for a Birmingham-based project. Fronted by sisters Sophia and Hannah Johnson, the band released its critically acclaimed album Femme Fatale in 2010, an effort that put The Toy Hearts on the international map of folk music. The Johnson sisters developed their songwriting skills and vocal style further with the 2012 release, Whiskey. The album captures tight harmonies and snappy choruses that fit nicely into the category of American country drinking songs but with a sultry air of European charm.
