The Smyths is a tribute band for The Smiths, the famed 1980s alternative rock band from Manchester, England and is touted as one of the best tribute acts for the band. The band takes great pride in recreating the music of one of alternative rock's most powerful, albeit short-lived bands of the 20th Century, and its only aspiration is to make its live performances virtually indistinguishable from The Smiths' heyday from 1982 through 1987. Performing to the delight of The Smiths fans since 1993, The Smyths stands as one of the longest-running tribute acts for the band.
