Based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan, The Macpodz is a quintet that draws its inspiration for musical compositions from poet John Sinclair. Since forming in 2006, the group has developed a characteristic sound that it likes to call "disco-bebop," which essentially fuses jazz with rock. The band utilizes a jam band style of performing live, preferring to improv unstructured grooves rather than stick to a preset verse-chrous-verse format; this has garnered The Macpodz a steady touring schedule on the summer jam band festival bracket.
