About
American rock outfit 7 Walkers is the new project formed by long-time Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann. The band formed in 2009 after a series of collaborative jam sessions that featured musicians Papi Mali (guitar, vocals), Reed Mathis (bass) and Matt Hubbard (keyboards, vocals, harmonica). After adding bassist George Porter Jr. (legendary bassist of New Orleans funk band The Meters), 7 Walkers solidified its lineup and released a self-titled debut album later that same year. The group's blend of loose, bluesy rock and roll has earned it plenty of positive reception that transcends the connections to its members much more prominent projects.
