The Suicide of Western Culture is an experimentally-minded electronic project from Spain. With a surplus of crazy effects pedals, cheap keyboards, drum machines and whatever vintage gear it can get its hands on, the Barcelona-based two-piece stacks layers of beats and tones together to create a psychedelic blend of IDM, pastoral pop and drone music. The band is also seemingly inspired by the adventurous post rock of oft-imitated groups such as Tortoise, as evidenced by its occasional prog-rock structures and stylistic shifts. The Suicide of Western Culture's eponymous debut album was released in 2009.
