Raleigh, North Carolina-born rapper Phonte and Holland-based producer Nicolay met on the internet. Passing stems and rhymes back and forth over the internet for over a year, the two artists created their debut album Connected, under the moniker The Foreign Exchange before having met in person. The duo honed a unique blend of hip-hop and electronic music and have since developed its act into a full-fledged live band.
