Marina Gallardo is a folk singer/songwriter from Cadiz, Spain whose unique vocal style infuses her otherwise conventional songwriting with an almost unexpected level of complexity. Gallardo released her debut album Working to Speak in 2008 to mixed reviews, primarily due to its apparent lack of coherence. However, her second album ,Some Monsters Die & Others Return, takes many of the excellent ideas only touched upon in her debut, and manages to flesh them out into a release that not only optimally represents Gallardo's skill as a songwriter, but also the various nuances her voice adds to the music.
