Capillary Action

About

Primarily the project of Jonathan Pfeffer and his rotating cast of backing musicians, Capillary Action was formed while Pfeffer attended Oberlin College in 2004. Since then, the band has developed its diversely-influenced brand of music into something akin to avant-pop, full of melodramatic Dirty Projectors-esque vocals, jazz horns, experimental arrangements and chamber pop harmonies. While the group incorporates a wide variety of musical genres, its music isn't haphazardly cut and pasted together like many bands that boast such varied styles, but instead is impressively cohesive and manages to be both complex and palatable, both jarring and charming.
