Orthrelm

Orthrelm is an experimental rock band based out of Washington D.C. Comprised of just two members, Mick Barr (electric guitar) and Josh Blair (drums), the group creates a pummeling cacophony of noisy math rock, metal riffing and jazz improvisation. In 2002, the band released a 99 track EP called Asristir Vieldriox that came in at just 13 minutes in total length. This interest in shattering typical expectations of what constitutes rock music can be found in pretty much every aspect of Orthrelm's style, but particularly in the jarring, dissonant songs that Barr and Blair create together. Despite the often polarizing opinions formed around Orthrelm, the band had the honor of being picked by Animal Collective to perform at All Tomorrow's Parties in 2011.
