Various Cruelties is an indie pop band from London that, like many bands currently crawling their way out of musky basements and unkempt bedrooms, face the light of the real world with a burning flair for the retro. From sun faded photographs of awkward youngsters to summertime aesthetics fueled by happy-go-lucky romps at the beach, Various Cruelties' members have taken it upon themselves to represent this musical generation's undying fascination with a bygone era once celebrated to its fullest by their elders. Yet, while it remains mostly a celebration of a sun-drenched past, the music of Various Cruelties still manages to do its part to make its own unique contributions to today's bustling indie pop discourse.
