Drawlings

Drawlings is the solo project of Los Angeles-based musician and visual artist Abby Porter, who is the sister of Avey Tare--one of the members of the popular experimental indie rock band Animal Collective. She got her start as a musician in 2006 playing with the New York band Rings, but shortly thereafter, in 2008, decided to take on her own solo endeavors under the guise Drawlings. Making music that falls under the no wave genre, the majority of songs that Porter creates have a defined lo-fi aesthetic. With sparse instrumentals and shoddy recording techniques, her music may be hard for some listeners to fully grasp, but Porter's artistic ambitions are pure and some prominent critics consider her sonic creations to be interesting pieces of avant-garde pop material.
