Brighton-based band Ramona blends 1990s grunge instrumentals with girl group vocals to create a fairly unusual breed of alternative pop/rock. Led by the sugary-sweet vocals of front-woman Karen Anne, but backed by a group of instrumentalists much more accustomed to gritty punk rock, the group maintains a contrast in its music. Within a few months of forming in 2009, the four-piece drew the attention of Columbia Records and immediately embarked on two UK tours.
