Quite the unique act to behold, Plaster of Paris creates its own breed of melodramatic vaudevillian pop. With a primary focuses on the front-woman's Bjork-like operatic vocals that rise and fall in bursts, the background music is provided by subtle acoustic guitar strumming and the occasional Balkan horn. The UK-based duo might not be particularly well known, but with each performance that it plays, decked out in costumes and sets that would fit into a Tom Waits-inspired carnival, Plaster of Paris proves that it has perfected the siren song, winning over audiences' respect and awe.
