Actress is the stage name for Darren Cunningham, an electronic musician and DJ from London, who, despite consciously keeping himself out of the public spotlight, is perhaps one of the most influential artists performing in his genre today. Indeed, if it weren't for the huge amount of exposure his music gets on blogs and independent music publications throughout the world, Actress' surprising lack of self-promotion on the internet and elsewhere could have otherwise doomed the young artist's work to obscurity. Perhaps best known of the artist's recorded output thus far is his debut album Hazyville, an initial foray into the highly competitive world of electronic music that deftly combines house and hip-hop beats into a hazy, dream-like sound that could end up influencing electronic musicians for years to come.
