Daughter is the moniker of indie folk singer/songwriter, Elena Tonra. The London-based artist creates quietly effective songs that utilize nothing more than her sparsely strummed acoustic guitar and fragile, reflective vocals. Clearly inspired by the burgeoning crop of indie folk female songwriters in the 2000s, such as Cat Power and Feist at their most somber, Tonra fits nicely into a genre that certainly will never be mistaken for reinventing the wheel, yet continually offers up some satisfyingly emotive, heart-on-sleeve tales of love and heartbreak for those who crave intimately personal lyrics.
