Toronto band Cancer Bats is one of Canada's most critically acclaimed hardcore bands, nominated for Canada's prestigious Juno Award for New Group of the Year in 2009. The band borrows from styles of metal as well as punk, and has succeeded at fusing niche genres like sludge metal and stoner metal into the band's foundation of hardcore and punk. The band is in constant demand for their live show, and keeps its release schedule modest as a result.
