Betty Blue Eyes is a musical comedy with music by George Stiles that is based on the screenplay for the 1984 British comedy film A Private Function. The story follows an attempt by members of a small Northern England town in 1947 to circumvent the food rationing edict in place following the conclusion of World War II, using the wedding of Prince Philip and Princess Elizabeth as an excuse to raise a pig for the town to eat in celebration. Although the musical has only premiered in 2011, many fans of the original film have flocked to the new musical reinterpretation in droves, and so far, critics and audiences agree that this lighthearted musical comedy is surely not to miss.
