About
Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo is a Pultizer Prize-nominated play by American playwright Raviv Joseph that premiered to rave reviews in Culver City, California in 2009. The story is an allegory for the aftermath of America's invasion of Iraq in 2003, and follows an American soldier's phantasmal experience in Baghdad after shooting a starved and frightened Bengal tiger who bit off the hand of another soldier stationed at the city's zoo. Following the play's successful run in Southern California, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo transitioned into an award-nominated Broadway production in 2011 with Robin Williams staring in the title role.
