That Championship Season is a Pulitzer Prize-winning play by American playwright and actor Jason Miller (best known for his role as Father Damien Karras in the 1973 film The Exorcist) that experienced a hugely successful premier off-Broadway, and shortly thereafter on Broadway in 1972. Set in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Miller's play follows the final days of a terminally-ill basketball coach as he celebrates the 20th anniversary of winning the state championships with four members of his team's original starting line-up. Celebrated by critics for ingeniously bringing to light the bigotry and hatred that often quietly pervades small town America, That Championship Season would go on to experience successful revivals on and off-Broadway, with its most recent all-star revival being given on Broadway in 2011.
