About
Arcadia is a comic drama by famed British playwright Tom Stoppard that opened in 1993 at London's Royal National Theatre to a tremendous amount of critical and popular acclaim. Considered by many to be one of the most significant contemporary plays written in the English language, Arcadia explores the concept of time by juxtaposing the lives of individuals who presently reside at an English country home in Sidley Park with those who resided there in the early 19th Century. The play attempts to blur the lines between the disparate time periods by having both sets of residents sitting at the same table and using the same props. Lauded by many as Stoppard's finest work, Arcadia continues to experience tremendous success as one of the most thought provoking on London's West End, as well as across the Atlantic on Broadway.
