Calgary Jazz Orchestra

Based out of Calgary, Canada, the Calgary Jazz Orchestra was formed by Johnny Summers in 2004 after the jazz trumpeter realized there was a decided lack of jazz ensembles in the city. After hand-selecting 15 talented musicians, Summers and his orchestra began writing traditional big band pieces and performing them to audiences throughout Calgary. The Orchestra's primary goal is to educate about the history and beauty of jazz and therefore often performs with high school bands and various community orchestras.
