Punch Brothers is a progressive bluegrass (newgrass) band from New York City that showcases a unique interpretation of the genre that members of the group synthesize into classical music structures. Although there are few genres more disparate than bluegrass and classical music, Punch Brothers not only makes the combination work somehow, but does much to reveal a distinctly new interpretation of bluegrass that raises the genre to the level of a serious art form. Having already established a name for itself as one of the more celebrated bluegrass bands on the scene today, the New York-based quintet is ready to take its songwriting and success to the next level with the release of its second album Antifogmatic, an album that's already being celebrated by critics as a welcome evolution in the band's already distinguished style.
