Fredericks Brown is an experimental blues/soul trio based in Brooklyn, New York by way of New Zealand that came about as a result of a chance meeting in the Big Apple between two friends, vocalist Deva Mahal and keyboardist Steph Brown, who had once performed with each other in their home country years earlier. Since deciding to relocate to New York permanently, the two musicians added fellow New Zealander, guitarist and trumpeter Michael Taylor to their line-up and the Fredericks Brown we know of today was born. So far, Fredericks Brown has met with nothing but praise from new fans and critics who celebrate the band's recent 2010 debut EP "Out of the Rain" as a Pacific Island-tinged brand of soul that could end up being a revelation for the genre as a whole.
