Attempting to find her break playing cafes in New York City by night as she supported herself by writing copy for an ad agency by day, Amy Correia found the chance she was looking for when the guitarist from Blind Melon witnessed her performance in a cafe one night. After being introduced to major label heads, the singer/songwriter was signed, only to find difficulty hammering out a contract, forcing her to bounce around labels for much of her early career. Her debut finally came out in 2000 and was met with much acclaim, marking her as a songstress with a penchant for highly narrative songs that can jump genre boundary lines, from the soulful to the sweet.
