Karpe is a hip-hop/rap duo from Norway that stands as one of the country's most important representatives of the genre since becoming the first hip-hop/rap group to win the "Šrets Spellemann" prize--Norway's highest award for music. Formerly known as Karpe Diem, the duo formed when two friends, Magdi Omar Ytreeide Abdelmaguid (aka Megdi) and Chirag Rashmikant Patel (aka Chicosepoy or Chico) aced a local music competition as youths and decided to commit their lives to performing and producing hip-hop and rap. Over the course of time that has passed since the duo released its debut album in 2006, Karpe has grown to become one of Norway's most popular and well-respected hip-hop acts.
