Inspired more by the 1980s than its New Orleans surroundings, Kindest Lines is a trio that creates dark 1980s synthpop, not the hip-hop or jazz that typically comes out of the Louisiana city. Angular post punk guitars crash into cold synth lines and provide the basis for front-woman Brittany Terry's dreamy, forlorn vocals. Since its formation in 2010, the group has fittingly been called a female-fronted version of The Cure and is in good company with the resurgence of bands striving for a 1980s dark synth sound.
