The Buffalo, New York five-piece Dotsun Moon claims that it writes music inspired by old black and white films, aiming to create new soundtracks for those same films which provided the inspiration in the first place. Evidently, these films are important to the band's technique, as it maintains a full-time band member devoted solely to live visuals. The result of these inspirations is dramatic, synth-heavy trip hop that doesn't seem to necessarily fit the standard interpretation of vintage noir films, but does provide an interesting modern perspective.
