Anticon mainstay and founder of the label's influential group Subtle--which included artists that would later go on to form Why?, cLOUDDEAD, Doseone and Themselves--Antonionian is the stage name of Oakland-based producer and multi-instrumentalist, Jordan Dalrymple. Taking his name from the Italian neorealist director Michelangelo Antonioni, the producer attempts to maintain the restraint and imagery of the director. While Antonionian's music might not quite fit as a soundtrack for an Antonioni film, as he generally creates sultry nu-funk beats that venture into dance pop with touches of moody piano R&B, it's easy to see the evident influences the director has on Antonionian.
