East Carolina University is a public, coeducational, doctoral/research university located in the rural town of Greenville, North Carolina. Founded in 1907, the school has done much to progress academic research and scholastic endeavors. The sports teams that compete for the university are called the Pirates. The school's varsity teams compete in the National Collegiate Athletics Association Division I as a member of Conference USA.
