Master Blaster Sound System is an electronica outfit with members that hail from both Texas and Mexico and joins the ranks of some of the Southwest's premier electronica groups responsible for popularizing the distinct Latin American rhythm known as cumbia. Promoting themselves as an act that's "producing fresh sounds and beats for a new generation of cross-pollinated youth," the members of Master Blaster strive to live up to their claim by seeking to bridge the already existing DJ culture with the now thriving cumbia underground. Having virtually done away with taking an academic approach to songwriting and music production, Master Blaster Sound System instead relies on a spontaneous and experimental approach to creating music the members of the group call "BANGAHS."
