Credited as creating the first microhouse record, German producer Rajko Müller, who performs under the moniker Isolée, has been a respected electronic musician since 1997. After growing up in Algeria and attempting to create synthpop on his family's organ, the young musician returned to his birthplace of Frankfurt, grew tired of the typical 1980s synthpop and began experimenting with minimalist techno and house music. While his brand of electronica often crosses the border into various subgenres, Isolée generally maintains a dark, fairly eerie tone that is almost discordant.
