Spanish singer Elena Gadel has enjoyed a decent amount of success in her home country for her uptempo, dance-oriented pop sound. The Barcelona native debuted in 2002 with the hit single, "Es Por Ti," which landed at the number four spot on the Spanish charts. Sometimes employing a danceable, canned beat style of straight-forward pop while other times relying on mellower, nylon-string acoustic guitar-based tracks, Gadel's music has remained popular thanks to its no frills, mass consumption-ready take on radio-friendly material. Gadel is active not only in music, however, but also in theater. In 2005, she won the Spanish Theatre Awards' "Best Actress" prize for her role in the musical, Mar i Cel.
