Blue Kabuki is a shoegaze/rock and roll duo from Austin, Texas that represents itself as the second coming for hipsters and shoegazers everywhere. Although the band has yet to live up to such hype, the duo can't be slighted for trying, and in fact, it comes reasonably close to matching--if not exceeding--the talents of similar acts out there. Moreover, the self-described "thunder rock duo," despite its grandiose intentions, highlights the inherent simplicity of its artistic intentions. With only a guitar and a four-piece drum set, Blue Kabuki can dish out songs with one word titles such as,"Stories," Tucson" and "Shake" with an effortlessness that matches even the most minimalistic drives of more prominent bands performing on the shoegaze scene today.
