Nicolas Jaar

Nicolas Jaar is a New York native who spent most of his childhood growing up in Chile, and the worldliness of growing up in a South American country is distinctively evident in the various influences that come through in Jaar's music. With a style that subtly references German techno, Ethiopian jazz, funk singer/songwriters and Portuguese fado--all in a meditative, sonically sparse landscape--Jaar has managed to attract a large fan base of music connoisseurs. Releasing his debut full length in early 2011 on his own imprint Clown and Sunset, Jaar has received praise for his innovative style and his engaging live performances.
